Every card you keep makes the next draw more dangerous.
Nondum gives you two ways to play with one deck.
Stand-alone card game
In stand-alone mode, 2–7 players choose whether to draw or pass. Endure cards are safe and score points. Death Omens carry activation numbers: draw one before its number and you survive; draw it at or after its number and you are eliminated. Passing buys time, but a second consecutive pass eliminates you.
The pull count is shared across the table. Every card held by any player moves the game closer to its deadliest Omens, including cards held by eliminated players.
Dread tension system
Nondum also works as a card-based tension mechanic for Dread roleplaying sessions. The Host calls for a pull when an action is possible, uncertain, and dangerous. A player can draw or refuse. Refusing fails the action; drawing a lethal Death Omen kills the character.
The card decides when death happens. The Host and player decide how the established danger becomes the character's final scene.
Base deck and bonus cards
The 60-card base deck contains 53 Endure cards and seven Death Omens, with lethal thresholds ranging from Pull 14 to Pull 36. Add any combination of 25 optional bonus cards to change the risk:
- Retempto: Draw again immediately.
- Call for Aid: Choose another living player to draw immediately.
- Marked: Every Death Omen drawn by that player becomes lethal until the Omens return.
- Premonition: View the top card, then leave it on top or move it to the bottom.
- Read the Signs: View and reorder the top three cards.
